HOW TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS
Tools utilisé
If your FRONT brake pads are nearing the end of their service life, there’s no need to rush to your dealership. The process is very simple and within the capabilities of most Porsche owners.
1) Loosen the 5 nuts that hold the wheel in place.
2) Use a hydraulic jack, positioning it correctly in the designated spot, and then place a jack stand to secure the support.
3) Completely loosen the 5 nuts, then remove the wheel.
4) The brake caliper is now accessible. Start by releasing the small clip that holds the wear indicator cable to the anti-rattle spring (don’t forget to open the brake fluid reservoir cap in the right-side trunk under the carpet).
5) Use long-nose pliers (electrician's pliers) to compress the spring by simply bringing the two central parts together. You will then see the spring pop out on the left side (left wheel).
6) Tilt the spring to the right side
7) Use a piston pusher, which you can find at Norauto, Feu Vert, etc.
9) Once the brake pads have been fully pushed back (the pistons are fully retracted into their housings), remove the now-free pads one by one from the top, then remove the wear indicators from their notches.
10) Reinstall the new indicators on the new plates in the opposite direction.
11) Install the pads
12) Tilt the noise-reducing spring and press it back into place (under the tab on the left side).
13) Secure the clip that holds the wear indicator cable in place.
14) Pump the brake pedal to return the pistons to their original position.
15) Reinstall the wheel by tightening the nuts in a crisscross pattern.
16) Remove the spark plug, then lower the jack and tighten the wheel nuts securely.
